[4.7.10] BeatleFest in Belec, CZ - 2nd place At the BeatleFest in Belec with the quick-put together band we got the 2nd place. Considering the instrumental part, I thought it was one of the worst gigs in last 3 years, but the audience saw it differently. So I was really surprised. Ahead of us, was only the orthodox Beatle revival Pangea with costumes, wigs, authentic instruments and good music. And that my non-revival group gets the 2nd place (voted by audience), that really nicely surprised me. We don't play festivals as we couldn't fit in, as the foreign group were payed and the hierarchy went down. So even local famous groups are written by smaller letters due to other groups like SKUNK ANANSIE from UK, and there is simply no place left for Vytásek... But frankly, to play at 2pm for empty field, when everybody's sick from the last night's party, get 10 mns for soundcheck, play 30 mns, struggle for travel fee, and then 200 km home ... I don't know... But I don't like to write like everything's messed up. It's not. Let's finish positively :). I'm glad that it's summer at last, I have a lot of work, there is a Hungary ahead of me, and other things, which you, who are interested - even that I'm not any TV series star - get to know. All those of you I appreciate very much. It's been a while I wrote here, because there were so little reaction and I started to feel like I write it for myself only... So, with the delay, in case someone would read it...

[3.7.10] Again some news - musicals in CZ - again the backgrounds As my colleague Janek - (Ledecký) says - culpable avoding the web updates :). Well, the Facebook, is to blame, where sometimes I write something, and period crisis of the identity... And who knows-no one probably reads it, because no one writes into discussions... But what if... So to the point... Musicals Jesus Christ Superstar and above all Ať žije rockenroll (this is the way they write it), the results where as expected-we made only backgrounds for previously casted people... So the months of teasing and fooling around for nothing. I was close again. But what is the sad part, that not one of the productions didn't have enough of any minimum serious behaviour to send me an e-mail or any message of results. So message for them - come off :) ...

[3.7.10] Poland - Jury Award Well, in May I spent a couple of days as a finalist of the Carpathia Festival and got a Jury Award, which pleased me. But frankly, I think I was good enough to get the higher price... And the later talks of people around, colleagues and even organizers who thought like that more than me, and not even a fact I got the highest vote for the singing and enterpretation, it doesn't change a thing. But the winners were the fine guys from France, which were good, so I think they surely deserved it. They say this time I was supported even by the chairman of the Jury, with the highest vote. So at last the fine jury? But among 20 finalists of whole Europe it might be at least a minimum success. Even thought like I say: There are no points for second places. But I'm glad, because humbleness is never harm :).

[3.7.10] A memory of Poland Concerts Well if I should write something from the stay, i know this year it wasn't the same way as the last one, but I hope we'll take a look there soon again with the band. The playing on the square felt good... This is how we played Shine Through The Night...

[5.5.10] Review - Beatlemania Convention, Prague 11.12.2009 ... From the Beatlemania Fanzin, 4.2010: "In the middle of program, there performed the frontman of The Blackbirds, Jan Vytasek, which achieved the biggest appreciation, both in sense of the repertoire and enterpretation. Even alone in the field, just with the guitar, he managed to keep attention of the audience, which was just quietly listening. It's clear, that this arrangement of performance is not meant for dancing before the stage. But I guess these ones of you, who has already known Jan from the previous times, must agree with me, that he's going still higher, getting better in the enterpretation, and instrumental sureness."

[3.5.10] Home Scene in Prague We thought about letting go in our Metropol for a while, and play just per order firm events and tour around the small towns, villages ... So we came to play - as I announced - the last concert in Prague for some while ... and unexpectedly we found the club with owner who is normal and thinks not for single-shot but for the future. That's why it looks like now the home scene for us would be the club called Limonadovy Joe, situated in Kotva passage. On Fridays I use to be the ocassional guet of their program "Zpevarna" (Singing Place), accompanied by the live band. And the club even has an opening roof, so you can watch the stars... And of course us as well :).

[29.3.10] Videos from Poland Concerts 2009 Video #1 - preview of the Square Concert on 21.5.09. Czech festival organizers - exept some exeptions - still hold on ignoring. They say we are not the "big famous name", ... but above all, we are not with any mammoth - like with the Czech version of Sony BMG who bosses everything from major radios and billboards and Czech Nightingale Contest to festivals and who knows what else... If their majors abroad ever knew .... But these days, who cares. Fortunatelly, we have an internet... Don't forget to write something on YouTube - feedback is necessary :).
